The situation for global gender equality continues to deteriorate, but Afghan women, who have suffered some of the greatest consequences of patriarchal systems, continue to fight for their rights, even under the Taliban’s regime of gender apartheid. In November, diaspora, humanitarian, human rights and other community groups gathered in Canberra to discuss what practical steps could be taken to advance Afghan women’s rights. This event will launch the report summarising those discussions and compiling those recommendations.
